These Terms of Service explain how we work, what you can expect from us, and what we kindly ask from you when you make a booking. By using our website or booking our services, you agree to these terms.

Who We Are

We are The Character Co. A Northern Ireland based entertainment company providing fun, safe, and family-friendly character mascot experiences for parties and events.

Our Services

We provide:

• Character mascot appearances at parties, public & private events and chosen venues
• Engagement and photo opportunities with the character
• We always aim to deliver a professional, fun, and memorable experience!

Bookings

Bookings can be made through our website, by email, or by phone. All bookings are subject to availability and are only confirmed once a deposit has been received (or payment in full has been received if the booking is within 14 days). You will receive a booking request email with all agreed details and then a confirmation email after payment.

Please check that all details (date, time, location, character, etc.) are correct on your booking request email.

Payments & Deposits

A 50% deposit is required to reserve your date and time. Your performer cannot be reserved until this deposit has been received.

The remaining 50% balance is due 14 days prior to the event date to secure your booking. If the balance is not received by this time, The Character Co reserves the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit.

All online payments are handled securely via Stripe using Monzo business banking. Paypal or bank transfer to the company account is available as an alternative payment method and invoices will be provided via email.

Cancellations

If a booking is cancelled more than 14 days before the event, the deposit may be converted to a credit.

If a booking is cancelled within 14 days of the event, the final balance payment (50%) is non-refundable, as the date and performer have been reserved exclusively for your event. However, the original deposit will remain available as a credit.

Credits must be used within 6 months of the original booking date.

Arrival and Event Duration

• Our performers aim to arrive 10–15 minutes before the start time to prepare
• The performance duration will match what was agreed in your booking confirmation
• Please ensure there is a safe, clear space for our characters to perform and interact with your guests

Safety and Supervision

Your safety is our top priority.

A responsible adult must always be present during our entertainers’ performance. Our team members are trained to work safely around children and are DBS checked, but they are not responsible for supervision. Please make sure the environment is safe and suitable (e.g. no trip hazards, pets secured, breakable items removed etc.)

We reserve the right to stop a performance early if we feel safety is at risk.

Costume and Character Disclaimer

The Character Co provides lookalike mascot characters inspired by popular children’s television shows, films and storybook themes. Our characters are not the licensed or copyrighted characters and we do not represent, own, or claim to be affiliated with any brand, studio, production company, or copyright holder. Any resemblance to well-known characters is purely coincidental and intended for entertainment purposes only. By booking with us you understand that we provide independent lookalike characters only and not the original licensed characters.

Outdoor and Weather Conditions

If your event is outdoors, please ensure there is a safe, dry, and shaded area for our performers. We may need to pause or relocate if conditions are unsafe (rain, strong winds, or extreme heat). In severe weather, we’ll work with you to reschedule where possible.

Liability

We hold Public Liability Insurance for your peace of mind. However, we cannot be held responsible for:

• Accidents caused by unsafe venues or lack of supervision
• Damage to property or injury resulting from misuse of equipment or inappropriate behaviour by hosts/guests
• Cancellations by events beyond our control
• Force majeure

Our performers are DBS verified (Disclosure and Barring Service checked) meaning they have no criminal record and are permitted to work around children and vulnerable adults. We will always act professionally and responsibly in all circumstances.

Website Use

By using our website, you agree to:

• Use it for lawful purposes only
• Not attempt to copy, modify or misuse any content or images.

All text, images, and branding on our site belong to The Character Co. and may not be reused without permission. Doing so may result in legal action being taken against you.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business or the law. The latest version will always be available on our website with the date shown at the top.
